September Newsletter

As we begin the fall semester, the Office of Student Veterans is excited to continue to assist and support our incoming and current student population!
For those who are new, welcome! For those who are returning, welcome back! We hope you enjoyed your summer, and are excited to get back into the rhythm of another academic year.
We're starting the semester off strong with resource-sharing and community building via the Open House and Opening Hail in September. Read on for more information about those events as well as other upcoming campus engagement opportunities.

Open House

The Duke Office of Student Veterans will be hosting an Open House on September 5th, 2024 from 1600-1800. This is a chance for both incoming and current students to learn more about our office, campus partners, and local partners about resources available to our military-affiliated community. 
Our office is located in the Crowell Building on East Campus. Our office door faces the parking lot on the east side of the building.

Opening Hail

The Office of Student Veterans is hosting an Opening Hail on Sunday, September 8th, 2024. We're finalizing the exact time and location, so keep an eye on our email for more information coming soon!
This event allows incoming and current military-affiliated students to meet and build rapport. Partners and family members are welcome to attend!

American Grand Strategy - Gettysburg Staff Ride

Applications are now open for the 2024 Program in American Grand Strategy staff ride to Gettysburg on November 1st and 2nd!

A staff ride is a hands-on educational experience where participants walk the terrain of a battle or campaign to understand key strategic decisions. Participants will visit the battlefield and present the perspective of a figure involved in the Battle of Gettysburg.

Students are encouraged to apply regardless of program of study, year, or prior involvement with AGS. No specific expertise or experience is required.

To apply, please complete this application no later than Friday, September 13, 2024.

Fall Campout - Cameron Crazies

Interested in tickets to Duke Men's Basketball Games? Mark your calendars for the Fall Campout, held from Friday, October 4th to Sunday, October 6th in Krzyzewskiville! 
This event allows graduate and professional students a chance to win the opportunity to purchase a season ticket to all home Duke Men’s Basketball games. Please read the newsletter Graduate and Professional Student Government sent out for more information.

Open Door Availability

The Office of Student Veterans will be available throughout the school year. Although we will not have official office hours, we are readily able to assist you at any time most convenient for you. Please email us to schedule a time to meet with any of our team.
