Work with GFI this spring semester! |

|
The Global Food Institute (GFI) is hiring a student intern to support the growth of food-related courses and the Food Leadership minor at The GW University.
This student will be the point of contact for all student inquiries about food systems at GW, both in the classroom and on the campus. This job supports outreach to students around food-related academic program offerings, internships, and career opportunities. The position also supports communication with campus-based and adjunct faculty at GW teaching courses as part of GFI’s new Food Leadership minor. Tasks may include scheduling Curriculum Committee meetings, compiling course syllabi, and supporting the Curriculum Director in meeting deadlines to have courses approved and listed for student enrollment.
This is an incredible opportunity to work directly with a faculty member on building out a new program at GW!

For this award, Youth Service America with support from the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation seeks new ideas and/or actions that may already be in place. Call for Proposals: Danone Institute North America Sustainable Food Systems Initiative |
The DINA Sustainable Food Systems Initiative is calling for proposals to fund up to five transdisciplinary teams in 2025 to design, implement and evaluate actionable community-based projects that contribute to the nutritional health of adult populations and support publication and communication about their impact.
Funding from this initiative can be used for various types of projects and can include pilot studies, feasibility testing, and needs assessments. Each selected team will receive a USD 50,000 DINA Sustainable Food Systems Initiative grant to implement its project and amplify its message to a broader audience over a two-year period. Teams may use this grant mechanism to supplement current funding from other sources, but new project aims must be developed for the DINA Sustainable Food Systems Initiative funding.

Student Visit to Dreaming Out Loud Farm |
|
|
The students of Dr. Kansanga's GW Agriculture & Sustainable Food Systems course had an amazing learning experience at Dreaming Out Loud's Farm at Kelly Miller, including GFI's Laura Mindlin. Our students got to hear about the impactful work of Dreaming Out Loud to build a more just, healthy, sustainable food system in DC; tour The Farm at Kelly Miller; and even help build a greenhouse!
Everyone was in awe of the farm, and the ripple effect of impacts of Dreaming Out Loud's work in the community. Thanks to the farm team for their time showing GW students around, and to Dr. Kansanga for leading such an important food systems course that enables this field trip for students. Cheers to a growing population of food activists, and the bounty of inspiring leaders across DC!
