Meet our Body Back Transformation Instructors

Are you curious about the highly-trained, enthusiastic and inspiring Body Back instructors at FIT4MOM Cary/Durham?  Read on to get to know them a little better!
Meet Julie!
Julie is our encouraging and motivational early morning fitness instructor. Start your day with a sweat filled, intense set of rounds or circuits so you can move on to the rest of your day with more energy and an awesome attitude!
What is your nutrition philosophy? I love the saying that Health is 20% fitness and 80% nutrition, you can't outrun your fork! And "You are what you eat, so don't be cheap, easy, fast or fake!" Eating whole foods,or food that is as close to the source as possible, is really very important for overall health. And that is what I love about Body Back, it encourages moms to eat more fruits and vegetables and lean proteins and whole grains. It helps moms move out of unhealthy habits and create new, healthier habits that can last a lifetime.
What is your fitness philosophy? I love getting moms moving in the morning, even before the sun is up. I know that for me, when I workout in the morning and have that little bit of time for myself before I start mom duties, I have a better attitude and get more done during the day! I love to help other moms find that and push them further than they think they can go. It is all about Mind over Matter!
How do you stay in shape?  I love to get up and do HIIT workouts, just like I teach in class. I also love to run and do pilates to stretch me out after hard workouts! On my "off" days from working out, you can find me playing soccer with my boys or walking our dog. I love to hike when given the chance and swimming in the summer to beat the heat!
What is your favorite song for working out? Why? I have several songs that I love, right now my favorite might be Misfit by High Dive Heart or No Place I Would Rather Be by Kam Franklin, I think both say why I love them in the titles!
What is your Body Back Class like in 10 words or less?  Upbeat, sweaty, energizing and a great way for moms to start their day!
Julie teaches the early bird 5:45AM classes at the Academy for the Performing Arts (APA) in Apex.  Her 8-week Body Back Transformation session will be held on Mondays and Thursdays from 5:45-6:45AM starting on Monday, March 27th.  To register for Julie's class, click below!.

Meet Marisa!
Marisa is our veteran Body Back instructor who is full of fun, yet intense, exercise "games" and unique ideas!  She gets results!
What is your fitness philosophy?  I seek to empower women to live healthy lives and feel good about themselves. My goal is to challenge clients to push past what they think they can do and achieve something more--that achievement is one of the best feelings in the world. I also want them to be proud of what they can do, what they are like now, even as they push to change.  I like to keep things interesting with workouts that are fun, challenging, and varied.
What is your nutrition philosophy?  Nutrition is just as important as fitness in creating a healthy life.  The nutrition portion of my classes is about helping women find practical ways to eat whole, real foods and change habits, while still remembering that it's okay, even good, to sometimes treat themselves.  I also spend time each session looking at the psychological reasons for why we choose the foods we do so we can change food choices and keep them changed.
Even though I have been teaching Body Back since December 2012, I am constantly learning and trying to improve my classes, reading new articles and trying new things.  I believe that's the only way to really excel at anything you do:  keep trying to do it even better.
How do you stay in shape?  For my own fitness, I love to run and participate in group fitness classes (you'll probably see me working out with you at a Saturday Body Back from time to time).  I also started taking yoga recently, and I play soccer.  I am always setting myself new goals to keep myself motivated, whether that's a new race time or just pushing myself harder in the next workout I participate in.
I also love sharing the love of fitness with my son, who has grown up doing Stroller Strides and loves to invent new exercises "for the mommies" that I teach.
What is your favorite song for working out? Why?  My favorite workout songs are ones that empower women and celebrate their strength, like "Run the World (Girls)" by Beyoncé.
What is your Body Back class like in 10 words or less?  A place of acceptance, fun, friendship, hard work, and growth.
Marisa teaches the evening classes at My Gym in Cary starting at 7:30PM.  Her 8-week Body Back Transformation session will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30-8:30PM starting on Tuesday, March 28th.  To register for Marisa's class, click below!
