Engage in your classes!
Full-semester courses began on August 17, even if the in-person components won't begin until September 21. Participation in class is required. What does it mean to attend class in a remote environment? Each professor should have provided instructions for how to engage in their course. For many courses, content will be available in Canvas. Some courses will have synchronous meetings via Zoom, WebEx, or Google Meet. Be sure to read the course syllabus and understand what is expected. If you have questions, ask your professors!
Professors will typically indicate how many classes you are permitted to miss and will be monitoring attendance on a regular basis. Be aware that you can be dropped from your courses for missing too many classes. If this causes you to drop below full-time enrollment, it can have serious consequences for your legal status in the U.S. If you are struggling with your classes, do not stop engaging! Visit your professors virtually during office hours to seek advice, or utilize online resources such as the Rinella Learning Center.
