Fatigue Risk Management tools
that make a real difference

'Management by Exception' Turns Ten Years at Finnair

October 27 marked the ten-year anniversary of Finnair starting to use Jeppesen Crew Tracking and the Alert Monitor. Jeppesen and Finnair management, together with key users and implementation personnel, recently commemorated the day by gathering in Helsinki to celebrate and recap the implementation project.
"I can not imagine crew control work without the Alert Monitor. It automatically identifies and presents all issues from across the operation on a timeline indicating the urgency. It’s an invaluable tool delivering situational awareness and reducing our workload", says Jari Ahonen, Crew Scheduler at Finnair with almost 20 years of experience. "Becoming aware of a problem in day of operation just a little bit earlier can make a huge difference to the cost at the airline."
Björn Samuelsson, Product Manager at Jeppesen and part of the implementation team ten years ago, adds: "The key concept of the Alert Monitor is to assist the crew schedulers to resolve the right problem at all times, only managing the exceptions. The problems will automatically find the scheduler, instead of the scheduler manually searching for them, something they cannot do during resolution time. For the Alert Monitor, nothing goes undetected. Not even elevated fatigue risk."

BAM Inside. Leading Integration.

The Boeing Alertness Model (BAM) is a high-performance implementation of a model with a validated representation of human physiology. It is easily integrated into any application for crew management. Use BAM, Concert and CrewAlert with your existing solutions for planning and decision support, or even for real-time assessment of fatigue risk during optimization. BAM connects over the Common Alertness Prediction Interface (CAPI), the leading standard for high-performance integration of fatigue models.
Read more about the options for integrating BAM into your crew management environment in this PDF. You are welcome to contact us here for a deeper discussion on how we may be of help improving your crewing process.
