Scholastic All-American Applications

Athletes can now begin applying to be named a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American.  Scholastic All-American's must meet a time standard and a GPA Minimum.  Applications are now open.  The deadline to apply is August 15, 2019.

USA Swimming - SafeSport Policy
USA Swimming, in accordance with its Safe Sport guidelines, is implementing the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy.  All USA Swimming member clubs are required to abide by the policy, which must be reviewed and agreed to in writing each year by all coaches, athletes, parents, and non-athlete members (officials, meet directors, etc.).
Follow this link to read SafeSport Policy in Full.
USA Swimming SafeSport Policy applies to the following:
  • All non-athlete and adult athlete members
Participating non-members (timers, computer operators, meet marshalls)
  • Club adult staff
  • Any other adult authorized to have regular contact with or authority over minor athletes
USA Swimming SafeSport Policy will address these key areas:
  • One-on-One Interactions
  • Social Media and Electronic Communications
  • Team Travel
  • Locker Rooms and Changing Areas
  • Massages / Rubdowns
Some points that merit special attention have to do with social media.  We are working to get clarity from USA Swimming, but it is our understanding that all "Applicable Adults" as indicated in the policy are prohibited from being “friends” with athletes on social media.  This would include coaches, non-athlete members such as officials, meet directors, and AO's, and any meet volunteers such as timers, announcers, computer operators, meet marshalls, etc.

The policy also requires that coaches copy athletes’ parents on any electronic communication.  This includes something as mundane as a response to an athlete who texts a coach to say she/he will be late to practice.  It will likely be best if minor athletes copy their parents when initiating electronic communication with coaches.

This policy is designed to protect both athletes and applicable adults that it covers.  While some of the provisions may take getting used to, we appreciate everyone’s willingness to adopt this policy in full.

Fish Out of Water

Nashville Sounds Game
Join some of our Ensworth Aquatics coaches and your friends for a day at the ballpark on Saturday, June 1. The Nashville Sounds will be playing against New Orleans at 6:35 at the Sounds Stadium.
This event is geared for our Stingrays, Dolphins, and Sharks but anyone is welcome to attend. Coach Bahr and Coach Skylar will be there and they hope to see as many of you as possible!
Senior Training Trip
The vast majority of the Senior group leaves Sunday for a team training trip to Pensacola.  The team will practice at the University of West Florida.  This is a great opportunity for athletes to bond, to work hard together, and to set up a very successful summer season.  They will also have the opportunity to train alongside the GPAC team for one of the training sessions.
Younger athletes should be aware that training trips are privileges.  Those looking forward to participating in one in the years to come will need to be hard-working, committed swimmers who can handle the workload and expectations the coaches have both before, during, and after the trip.
Training trips are also an opportunity for people outside of Nashville to discover who we are as a team.  Their judgments will be based on athletes' demeanor, behavior, and work ethic.
We are already looking ahead to next year's potential training trip.  These trips are typically reserved only for Senior group members.  Anyone who might be moving into the Senior group and would like to participate in such a trip need only work hard, give their best effort, and be a great teammate!
Dollywood Day Trip
There will be no practice the day after the TNAQ meet, so why not make a stopover in Pigeon Forge for a trip to Dollywood!

John Dismukes has helped to coordinate a group rate for a day trip to Dollywood on Monday, June 17.  We need a head count to get a group rate, and the RSVP is due TODAY. Your team account will be billed for the trip. There will be no refunds.
Tickets will be a lot cheaper than normal:  $52 General Admission Group Rate + tax. You also have the option of paying $39 for the Time Saver Pass.

Make your RSVP here!

Ensworth Aquatics - July Invitational

Summer will be over before we know it!  It’s already a great time to commit to our July Invitational.  We would like to have these commitments completed early, as well as our volunteer sign-up, so we can be prepared to host another great home meet.

Sharks & Dolphins Summer Practice Schedule Adjustments
We are making an adjustment to our practice schedule for both Sharks and Dolphins.
After polling our Dolphins group we determined it is better to offer a Friday practice rather than Tuesday practice during the summer, due to many swimmers competing in Summer League meets on Tuesdays.
We also polled our Sharks to determine a preferable Friday practice time.  With all of your feedback in, we have decided to offer both Sharks and Dolphin practice at 3:45 p.m. on Fridays.  The Sharks will finish at 5:30 p.m. and the Dolphins will finish at 5:15 p.m.
This change will take effect immediately.

Practice Schedule Updates
Summer practice schedules through June 29, 2019, are posted on our Live Practice link. CLICK HERE to access the information.  Live Practice Schedule can always be found on the team website.
Summer Travel & Vacations
This is the time of year when families head on vacations, kids go to camps, and everyone is getting over the school year by filling their summers with all kinds of activities.
Athletes who are going to be missing practices should be communicating with their coaches prior to going on vacation. (Be sure to include parents on all communication.) This is helpful so that the coaches do not assume something else might be wrong.

Coaches will also be in and out on some occasions.  Coach Goeken and Coach Bahr head to Pensacola for the Senior Training Trip next week.  Coach Glenn and Coach Kirstin will cover a combined Senior 1 and Senior practice from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. on Monday - Thursday, and 7:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Friday.

Coach Erin is also going out of town for two weeks starting next week.  Coach Glenn will be covering the Stingrays assisted by former Ensworth Aquatics swimmer Emma O’Heron, who just finished her freshman year swimming at Berry College.

Sharks

Summer Practice Adjustment
Effective immediately, we will offer both Sharks and Dolphin practice at 3:45 p.m. on Fridays instead of Tuesdays (due to summer league meets).  The Sharks will finish at 5:30 p.m. and the Dolphins will finish at 5:15 p.m.

Dolphins
Summer is Here!
We've all been enjoying Nashville's beautiful weather the last couple weeks. With temperatures at an all-time high, it's important that your swimmers are staying hydrated at home and at the pool. Make sure your swimmers bring their water bottles to practice every single day.

Swim to Huntsville!
As of 5/29, Dolphins have swum just over 700 miles. If I-65 was a river, we'd have swum all the way to Huntsville seven times! Check out our new posters hanging underneath the pace clocks on either side of the pool.

Updated Practice Schedule
In order to best accommodate our summer Dolphins, we will practice on Fridays and take Tuesday nights off for the month of June. We will return to regular Tuesday on/Friday off practices on July 2nd.  Here is our June practice schedule:

Mondays: 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday: No Practice
Wednesdays: 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 pm.
Thursdays: 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Fridays: 3:45 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
Saturdays 10:15 p.m. to 12:00 p.m.
