Faculty Learning Communities |

A Faculty Learning Community (FLC) is a structured group of faculty members who come together regularly for collaborative exploration of a topic related to teaching and learning, research and creativity, or other professional learning. FLC’s are led by a faculty member and create a supportive environment where faculty can share their experiences, discuss challenges, and collectively develop innovative approaches to reaching their goals.

Communicate the Value of Your Innovation
October 14 - 18 November
Learn the essential skills needed to effectively communicate the value of your innovation, with a focus on market assessment and pitch strategy.
Over six sessions, you’ll work alongside fellow research faculty to develop practical communication techniques that will help you navigate the path from idea to market.
Led by Jeff Blackwood, UMKC’s Director of Commercialization Ecosystem, this FLC takes a hands-on approach to navigating UMKC’s innovation resources, understanding your market, refining your messaging, and aligning your innovation with real-world opportunities.

| Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
SoTL is a research-based approach to teaching that empowers educators to enhance student learning while contributing to the academic community by investigating their own teaching practices and their students’ learning.
SoTL “invites faculty to view teaching as a form of scholarly work that can be examined and improved through research and reflection” (Huber & Hutchings, 2005).
Explore how SoTL can transform teaching into a research-driven, collaborative pursuit.
