Dear Pilot parents and families, Your student is in the final stretch! We are incredibly proud of all our students for navigating the past academic year and have confidence that they will end the semester with a strong finish. A special thanks to all of you who have been their support system – whether in-person or virtual, on the receiving end of late night texts, or having kitchen chats about the highs and lows of the last semester. Remind your student that all divisions of the SARC are meeting with students virtually and available to help! FINDING A PATH Witnessing your student’s professional journey as a parent can be stressful. The great news is that the Career Education Center can partner with you in helping your student find their path. Learn how the Career Education Center can be a resource for your student now and after graduation (at no charge)! They are also open all summer and available to help guide your student to success. CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2021 Congratulations to our senior families! Last week senior families should have received important Commencement information regarding student Commencement Boxes, mailed programs for parents, and festive digital downloads to help celebrate your 2021 grad. Review the communication if you missed it. We celebrate your student and we celebrate YOU for helping them reach this tremendous milestone. HUGS FROM HOME If your student is on campus or in the Portland area this semester, let them know you are thinking about them by ordering them a “Hug from Home!” From birthday treats to study break snacks, Bon Appétit has you covered with delicious house-made treats to show your encouragement and support. All orders will be available for pickup on campus.  CELEBRATION OF SCHOLARSHIPS For the past month, UP has been sharing powerful first-hand accounts of the profound effect that scholarships have on students, their families, and their communities. If you are a parent of a scholarship recipient, we’d love to hear from you about what scholarships have meant to your family. Please contact Connie Ozyjowski at ozyjowsk@up.edu with any stories you would like to share, or visit giving.up.edu/celebration to learn more.  ON-CAMPUS SUMMER HOUSING Is your student planning to take summer courses? Students who take six or more credits during the 2021 summer term and live on campus will receive an institutional discount of 50% on their housing costs, subject to availability. This brings the weekly cost down to $113.50 per week. Limited food service may be available on campus on a cash basis (decisions are still being made in this area). Learn more about summer housing.  UPDATES FROM STUDENT ACCOUNTS Check out these helpful updates from Student Accounts regarding tuition deadlines for summer courses and news about Nelnet Enterprise System, the third-party system partnering with the University to allow students and their families to utilize monthly payment plans and e-payments. Learn about various options, how your student can enroll, and important deadlines for the fall semester. CELEBRATING OUR FGEN STUDENTS Students, loved ones, and UP faculty and staff gathered virtually last Friday to celebrate the accomplishments of first-generation senior graduates during a special inaugural pinning ceremony.
