Exciting Summer 2021 Career SeriesBrought to you by the Wasserman Center for Career Development, NYU MasterClass offers weekly online sessions created for students and alumni of all skill levels. These sessions are led by industry professionals who will share how they are using a specific skill in the workplace and the lessons they learned along the way. Each session will focus on one topic that aligns with one of our Violet Ready skills. Dates and registration information to be shared in April.

Counseling and Wellness Services (CWS)CWS now offers single session counseling for students who need to touch-base with a counselor occasionally but do not require a traditional course of short- or long-term counseling. Students can schedule a 30-minute online session anytime they need to work through a specific concern. Single-session counseling gives students the flexibility to schedule a solution-focused, one-time meeting whenever they need help addressing a specific life issue.
CWS also offers short-term counseling, urgent (same-day) counseling, group counseling, wellness workshops, referrals to long-term services in the community, and on-site long-term psychiatric medication services. Except for psychiatry services, they are provided at no cost. Learn more about Counseling and Wellness Services at www.nyu.edu/counseling.

Summer ClassesIt's already time to think about summer and NYU will offer hundreds of exciting courses taught by top NYU faculty. Flexible online or in-person courses empower students to earn credits through 3, 6, or 12-week sessions from anywhere in the world. Students enrolled in 6 or more credits may be eligible for financial aid. Students with Flexible Semester credits can apply those credits to summer study. Housing is also available for students studying at our NYC campus. Summer course listings launch in Albert on March 22 for students.

Study Away OpportunitiesSummer Term 2021 - A selection of classes that are typically offered in-person at NYU’s study away sites will be offered remotely. Registration for summer classes will begin April 12.
Fall Semester 2021 – Undergraduate students received an email on March 1st explaining that the University is planning to host students for in-person courses and programming at NYU study away sites this fall. While there continue to be many unknowns that may affect these plans, students who are interested in studying away in Fall 2021 are encouraged to apply by the deadline. We also advise being prepared for the possibility that health, travel, and immigration-related challenges may require a shift to remote study for some or all study away sites.
The study away application deadline for Fall Semester 2021 is April 1st. Additional information about deadlines and application instructions can be found on the Study Away website.

Tutoring and Academic Resources
As students move into the middle of the semester, some may be struggling to meet their academic goals or experiencing stress over their course load. Particularly, first-year students may have trouble adjusting to the more independent work-intensive environment of college level courses. If your student needs assistance, beyond their academic advisor, a number of academic resources are also available:

Supporting Our Friends March Holiday & Observances Calendar
Each month, NYU Global Spiritual Life shares a calendar of holidays and observances celebrated around the world and by members of the NYU community. In March, there are a number of observances and celebrations for us to mark! Will your student be celebrating or observing one of these — we want to hear what this day means to them, and what their celebration or observance looks like. Did we miss a holiday? Let us know and help us learn!

Campus Dining

- Note: Friday, March 19th, is a one of two remaining class-breaks for students. University offices will be closed that day, and NYU Dining will have reduced hours over the weekend.

Graduation Update
NYU announced last month that the All-University Commencement will take place virtually on Wednesday, May 19, 2021. For a host of public health, safety, and logistical reasons, it is not possible to gather in person this spring. The Class of 2021 will be invited to return for an in-person ceremony when possible to reschedule it. While we know it will not make up for the postponement of their in-person ceremony, the University will send gift boxes with a cap and tassel to graduating students. (Students must order the boxes using a unique gift code emailed to them.) Gowns and hoods are available for purchase. Details for individual school ceremonies and other graduation events will be shared as available.

Emergencies and After Hours Contacts
Throughout the year, including during University breaks, the professionals from the Department of Public Safety (212-998-2222) and the Wellness Exchange (212-443-9999) are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist students (and parents). Both numbers are available on the back of all student ID cards. Note that the Parent Helpline and email are not monitored evenings or weekends and should not be used for emergencies.

Tax Forms
IRS Form 1098-T, entitled "Tuition Statement," contains information to assist the IRS and students or parents in determining eligibility to claim educational-related tax credits such as the American Opportunity Credit and Lifetime Learning Tax Credit. The form is available for eligible students via NYU eSuite. Additional details, including instructions about receiving the form electronically, are available on the Bursar's website.
For students employed on campus, information on how your student may obtain a copy of their W-2 Form is available on the Payroll website.
