Week 8: Vaccine and herd edition.

Vacc us anything.

What would Fauci do?

Walk on water, perhaps, but only with close friends who have also been vaccinated. Now that the Fauchmaster General is all vaxed up, he’s let us in on what you should and shouldn’t do post-vaccine. Spoiler alert: masks and testing are on the agenda long-term.

Herd any good jokes lately?

Aside from every Friday afternoon in this newsletter, of course. We’re glad you’re so great about wearing masks, because we’re going to be at it for a while. Timeline estimates regarding herd immunity vary widely, but the consensus is that masks are in for 2021. Hasn’t it been nice to have fewer colds this year?

Stay safer, stay put.

For Spring Break only, we’ve been granted an exception to safely host both remote and (outdoor) in-person programs for students in interest tracks like: service, adventure, art, research, and well-being. We’ll have a full schedule for you next week. So, stay tuned as well.

Vend for yourself.

The do's and don'ts of outdoor dining.

While we can’t vouch for the eating habits of our furry friends on campus, we’d like to share this helpful video tutorial created by a group of Sixth College students — about eating alfresco as part of the Three’s Company program.

You give when you get (tested).

As if you needed another reason to keep it up with weekly testing, every student who completes a perfect 10/10 tests this quarter (one each week), we will donate $50 up to a total of $500K to the Basic Needs Hub on campus. IYDKNYK: Tritons Care for Tritons.

We can't put a price on mental health.

Because without it, you’re not able to tap into your full potential as a student. CAPS is funded by several sources — including your student fees, philanthropic gifts, SHIP, grants, and UC San Diego Health and campus funding — meaning you should not see additional charges when you take advantage of what’s available to you.
