Like most of you, we’ll be taking a well-deserved respite from our regularly scheduled programming to hit the road/sky/sea next week.

With this in mind, today we’re dropping a carry-on-sized What We’ve Learned for you to safely stow in your overhead compartments.

Be a packRAT.

If you’re heading out of town for the long, turkey-adjacent weekend, be sure to stuff your bags with a few free-range Rapid Antigen Tests for use 24-48 hours before you come back to campus.

Rapid, dawg. Residents will have already received some test kits from their respective Res Life offices, while our commuting Tritons can trap a couple RATs at one of five distro locations on campus.

Health and whelm-ness.

From respiratory issues and travel headaches to wrestling with family dynamics, we know that navigating the nuances of this holiday season can be overwhelming. And like you, we’re ‘over’ being whelmed.

Know CAPS. Because there’s no shame in seeking support to manage your personal well-being, get familiar with some new programs and resources offered by the team at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS).

Quick Hits and Bits

Fly, flies, flu. Traveling or otherwise, be sure to protect yourself with an influenza vaccination (required for Tritons) and the same common-cold sense (hand-washing, staying home / masking when you’re sick) that has been keeping that other lethal respiratory virus at bay.
IT you? If you’re an undergrad in STEM, it certainly could be – to the tune of $10K. UC San Diego IT Services has launched an inaugural scholarship program, and is now accepting applications through Nov. 23.
