In this issue: 90s rap, a vax wrap-up, and CAPS, oh my!
FALL QUARTER 2022
Weeks 2-3: Safety first edition.
Hello again WWL-ophants!
Just a quick note to say that we hope your midterms have been less mid than expected.
As a reminder, this odd publication is published on odd weeks during the quarter – meaning that you can expect to find our wordplay-rife newsletter in your inboxes and IG feeds during weeks 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.
Enjoy. We’ll see you in a fortnight. - Ian
Tu-poke or the Notorious V.I.D.?
Unlike the debate over who reigns supreme as the greatest rapper of the 90s*, choosing between the vocal un-stylings of COVID and the lyrical flow of vax-based immunityshould be a no-brainer.
Bi valent, I think we’ve got it! As temps drop outside, people tend to head indoors – where variants do their best vary-ing. Arm yourself with the newest “bivalent” booster vaccines, which offer updated protection from Omicron’s latest drops.
* It’s Nas, btw.
Slow your roll.
Look, we love to see our campus bustling again, especially after a couple years of COVID – and the eucalyptus tumbleweeds that graced Library Walk in late-2020. However, more folks + more spokes = more accidents, since both wheeled and unwheeled Tritons alike have to navigate shared paths. Here’s a video reminder from AS on how to do so safely.
Protect ya neck. As well as what’s housed up above it – by wearing a helmet on bikes, scooters, and skateboards (heck, even unicycles if you’re about that mono-wheel life) – while cruising campus. Need one? You can cop a lid for $10 courtesy of the Triton Commuter Club and Transportation Services.
Quick Hits and Bits
Keep the head right. All of CAPS’ no-cost, anonymous programming is designed to boost your overall well-being, from traditional 1:1 services to free Headspace access for students. Visit our IG to learn more about mental health resources available to Tritons.
It’s a Home(coming) run. 5K’s, Fan Fests, free fanny packs, and food trucks; oh my! UC San Diego’s Homecoming week (October 17-23) has got you covered in Triton spirit.
WTF! Wear the facemask. For now, face coverings are required in all classroom/instructional settings, clinical areas, and on Triton/university transportation (like shuttles and buses). Just so you know, we’re constantly evaluating local data in order to determine safety precautions – and will drop the masks when data deems it appropriate.
