Re: Safety Advisory - Assaults
Following up on the Department of Campus Safety’s
Clery Campus Notice from December 10, 2023, regarding a fondling / sexual assault near Alumni Hall, Campus Safety has received additional recent reports of assault and harassment, not necessarily sexual in nature, believed to be perpetrated by the same individual near the areas of Washington Square Park, the intersection of West 4th and Greene Streets, and the intersection of 9th Street and 4th Avenue. A photo array of the individual is below.
In these new incidents, the individual approaches a person and makes contact with the victim’s upper body or head area with a slap or punch, and then walks away, saying nothing. No one has reported serious injury or required medical treatment; nevertheless, we would like to prevent any additional incidents, so we urge anyone with information to come forward.
Campus Safety has notified local law enforcement regarding this pattern. If you see this individual, please do not engage; instead contact 911 and then Campus Safety at 212.998.2222.

Description of Suspect: The individual is described as male-presenting, light-complected, and medium build, with brown hair and a brown beard. The individual has been observed on two separate occasions: once wearing a gray knit hat, orange jacket with the word "Police" visibly faded on the back, black jacket underneath, gray pants, black shoes, and carrying a white plastic bag; a second time, they were wearing a gray sweatshirt, gray pants, and dark shoes, with their hair in a bun.
