Welcome to the October edition of the SOLVE-CHD monthly updates 2025. This monthly e-newsletter will keep you up to date with the key progress of the SOLVE-CHD projects and provide updates on our events and initiatives. Simply 
email solve-chd.info@sydney.edu.au if you wish to share/add anything from your area that is directly/indirectly related to the SOLVE-CHD program. We would also strongly encourage you to share your research highlights and successes that is relevant to cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention with us so that we can celebrate your achievements with our network. 
ESC25 HeartCafe: Empowering Patients through Cardiac Rehabilitation
Following the efforts of the Global Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation Forum, we are proud to introduce the World Heart Federation Cardiac Rehabilitation Roadmap, a globally united, forward-looking pathway to lifelong cardiovascular health that promotes equitable, value-based care.

Australian Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) Quality Initiative Update
The Australian CR Quality Initiative continues to progress strongly. As of August 2025, more than 150 ACRA-funded members have completed the ICCPR Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Foundations Certification (CRFC).
At the ACRA ASM 2025, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program Excellence Initiative was also launched. This new initiative recognises and celebrates CR programs across Australia that are delivering high-quality care.

Key Highlights and Updates 

  • SOLVE-CHD wrapped up World Heart Day 2025 with many memorable and inspiring moments across Australia. Explore the highlights here!

  • Dr Sarah Gauci and her team at Deakin University's Food & Mood Centre recently led a study on ultra-processed foods and the risk they pose to our hearts - check out the interview on their findings here

  • Bond University’s Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare is looking to recruit a Research Projects and Communications Officer. Apply here before the 18 November.

  • Beats of Change - a new branded content series by the World Heart Federation and BBC StoryWorks - is now live! It shines a spotlight on inspiring stories in CVD prevention, treatment, and living well, and includes a story produced for SOLVE-CHD. Explore the full series here.

Nominations open for Heart Foundation Ministerial Awards
Nominations are now open for 2025 Ministerial Awards for Cardiovascular Research! These awards recognise and celebrate outstanding contributions to research in cardiovascular diseases, including diabetes, stroke and renal disease.

Call for Papers! Heart Lung and Circulation Special Issue
Heart, Lung and Circulation is excited to present a special issue on the evolving landscape of contemporary cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention. This special issue will focus on innovative program delivery methods, emerging technologies, workforce, and health equity challenges. We invite researchers, clinicians and healthcare professionals to submit original research articles, focused research reports, and reviews.
