Human Trafficking Prevention Month Resources & Events

The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) Director of Human Trafficking Blanca Lance recently announced the release of their 2026 Human Trafficking Prevention and Awareness Month Guide which includes learning opportunities and resources to help you fight human trafficking in your community. (Watch Video)
DFPS is also hosting a Light the Way End Human Trafficking Lunch and Learn series this January, dedicated to raising awareness about human trafficking. These gatherings offer a chance to engage with experts, gain insights and discuss prevention strategies while enjoying your lunch (next session is January 15, starting at 12 p.m.).

CASA Recruiters, join Texas CASA in Austin on March 4 for a one-day workshop, The Science of YES!, hosted by Dennise Jackson and Lindsey Lee. The Science of YES will explore how the brain makes decisions to say yes, and what that means for volunteer recruitment. We will dive into brain-based principles that influence motivation, trust, and commitment, helping recruiters understand why people choose to step into advocacy and how to apply these insights in recruitment conversations. Plus, there will be plenty of time for connecting, sharing, and fun!

STAR Zoom with Anti-Child Trafficking Consultant Torey Tipton and Local Program Panel

The STAR Monthly Zoom Series will kick off 2026 with CASA ACT Consultant Torey Tipton and a local program panel discussion on Anti-Child Trafficking advocacy. As we observe Human Trafficking Awareness Month as a CASA network, we invite you to join us on January 26 from 12-1 p.m., where we will discuss CASA Anti-Child Trafficking (ACT) services, focusing on how we can work together to combat this urgent issue. This session will provide an essential opportunity to deepen our understanding of human trafficking, including its prevalence in the foster care system and the significant role that CASA programs play in responding to this critical issue.

Upcoming February Training of Facilitators Workshop
|

|
Texas CASA is excited to announce dates for our next virtual Art of Facilitation for Pre-Service Training workshop! Cohort A: Feb 18, Feb 20 and Feb 25; Cohort B: Feb 18, Feb 20 and Feb 26 from 10 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. each day for both cohorts. This training is designed to introduce participants to the foundations of engaging and learning-centered facilitation, to explore creative and effective ideas for how to bring pre-service content to life and to build relationships across the CASA training community. During the hands-on component of this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to practice these skills by facilitating a short activity from pre-service training.
