Up here in these mountains, there are plenty of places to broaden your horizon (sometimes literally), lift your spirits, get fit and, most importantly, enjoy yourself while doing it. And whether you want to come see us this weekend, on the first day of spring or in any of our sensational seasons, it’s the perfect time to start planning your next adventure.

Start Your Winter Warm Up.

Winter is a great time of year to get in shape for spring. Weather permitting, Pisgah, DuPont and Gorges offer fantastic year-round treks, or consider hitting the road with weekly group bike rides from Sycamore Cycles and The Hub. After all that hard work, reward yourself by cozying up by the fire at our cabins and cottages, intimate inns and a range of wonderful accommodations. It’s never too early to start planning for Valentine’s Day, and nothing says “I love you” like our Winter Woodland Giveaway, so do your sweetheart a favor and enter to win now.

Spring Into Action.

April showers bring a lot of extra awesome to our Transylvania waterfalls and rivers. Start checking off your waterfall list early so you can say you were there first, come summer. Get a “boat’s eye view” of what’s happening along the river on guided paddles with Headwaters Outfitters. Put your winter training to the test at one of many cycling events throughout the season.

Chill Out This Summer.

With acres of shady forest, clear mountain water and high altitude climbs, Transylvania County is literally a cool summer hangout. It’s impossible to describe the magic found in the forests, but the sounds of splashing, squealing summer crowds at Sliding Rock might be a good place to start. Great music can be found year round in Transylvania, but summer brings the acclaimed Brevard Music Festival with its whole constellation of rising stars and internationally celebrated artists.

Fall In Love.

Gorgeous autumn colors have long lured visitors to Transylvania County, but fall is also famous for the Mountain Song Festival, a beloved weekend-long event hosted by the Steep Canyon Rangers and featuring some of the biggest names in American Roots music.

It’s only eleven months until Christmas 2019, so why not get a jump on holidays by planning to spend the season here in the mountains. December’s Annual Twilight Tour is Brevard at its Currier & Ives best, complete with live music, great food, carriage tours, the Christmas parade and much more.
