At the start of this year, we introduced you to the Dean of Students team and shared an update on policies that guide how we live, learn, and thrive together at Duke. Those messages reflect a simple truth: our community is strongest when care and accountability go hand in hand. National Hazing Prevention Week is another opportunity to put those values into practice.
Being an active bystander means noticing when something is not right and stepping in to help. The StandUp to Hazing module is one way to build your skills and confidence to act when it matters most. Taking just a few minutes to complete it helps ensure Duke remains a place where everyone looks out for one another.
Next week, you will also find daily events and activities that highlight prevention strategies, dispel myths, and bring our community together in visible, meaningful ways. From adding your handprint to a banner, to hearing from a national expert on hazing prevention, to watching the film We Don’t Haze, to pledging your commitment in BC Plaza, each event is a chance to take a stand against hazing and affirm the values we share.
Together, we can continue to shape a Duke community defined by support, responsibility, and respect.
