It's Time for the 9th Annual Global Vegan Waffle Party!
Here's how it works: We make a lot of vegan waffles. You come to the party with a plate to pile high with waffles and a vegan topping to share. Need suggestions? Fresh fruit, maple syrup, chocolate chips, peanut butter, honey alternatives, coconut, nuts, vegan whipped topping. We even had guacamole last year.

This free event is on Sunday, April 30, 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Fuller Park Building, 4800 Grand Ave., Minneapolis. The park has a playground and a big field where you can enjoy the Spring weather. And it's across the street from Ethique Nouveau at 317 W 48th St. so after you've had a delicious brunch you can stroll over to Minnesota's only vegan boutique. Please join us for some delicious waffle fun!
This Mother's Day Think of the Youngest Victims of the Dairy Industry
A scared lonely infant stands in the snow outside his new home. Kidnapped from his mother just after birth, he is now confined in a hutch not much bigger than he is, where he will eat, sleep, and defecate until he is the right size and age to be killed, and his body called "veal". He will never sleep next to his mother's warm body or receive his mother's nourishment and touch.

Female dairy calves are likewise separated from their mothers after birth so that the milk intended for her baby can be taken for human consumption.

These separations are tragic for both the mother and her calf. What's common knowledge to farmers, but not most consumers, is that mother cows search and call frantically for their babies long after their calves are taken away. If mother and calf have been separated by a fence, the mother will wait by the fence in vain, through rain or scorching heat, forgoing meals and even water. Dairy products and veal never come from happy cows -- make the switch to plant-based.

Legislators Don't Care About Feedlot Neighbors
Some Minnesota legislators are pushing a harmful proposal that will give sweeping legal protection to large-scale farms at the expense of rural Minnesotans. Currently, when a large-scale farm moves into an area, rural residents have the right to file a claim if it causes harmful nuisances including unbearable odor or negative health impacts. But House File 1717 would give hog and cattle farms increased protection from lawsuits, leaving neighbors no choice but to suffer these conditions or move. Please make polite calls today to Governor Mark Dayton at 651-201-3400, and your state senator to let them know you oppose the provision in the House omnibus agriculture policy bill, H.F. 1717, that makes it drastically harder for citizens to file a nuisance claim and hold large-scale hog and cattle operations accountable in court, and ask them to oppose its inclusion in the final omnibus agriculture policy bill.
