Dear Student,
Last month, University Infection Control Health Director Dr. Michael Jordan sent an email with an update on COVID-19 for Fall 2023. As we begin the fall semester, following are a few reminders about the University's guidance on staying safe and healthy that we hope are helpful.
|
-
If you have symptoms of COVID-19, stay home and take an antigen test. There are still some tests available at the Health Service at 124 Professors Row during business hours.
-
If you have been exposed to a case of COVID-19, follow CDC guidance on quarantine and testing.
-
Students in isolation who need medical care should contact Health Service by calling 617-627-3350. Students who are experiencing severe symptoms should call the TUPD emergency line at 617-627-6911 so emergency medical services can be dispatched immediately.

Positive Tests and Isolation |
-
Report your positive test right away to the university using this online form. You will then receive information on how to access dining if you have a meal plan.
-
In-depth information about isolating on campus as well as what to do if your roommate tests positive is available online.
-
Isolate according to CDC guidelines for 5 days where you live, whether that’s on or off-campus.
- On Day 6, if you are still having symptoms, continue to isolate. You can leave isolation when you are symptom-free but wear a mask through Day 10.
-
Contact Health Service at (617) 627-3350 if you are at high risk for COVID complications (e.g., immunocompromised, medical exemption to vaccine, underlying condition) and your roommate has tested positive. There is a limited amount of temporary housing available to students at high risk for complications while their COVID-positive roommate is in isolation.
|
- Students who live on campus will be able to order their meals from Dining Services and can pick up food at either Fresh at Carmichael or Dewick-MacPhie. Once you report a positive test through the online form, you will receive instructions on accessing meals so check your email.
|
-
Students are responsible for letting their faculty know when they are in isolation (faculty will not be directly notified). Faculty have been asked to be as flexible as possible in helping you keep up with your coursework while you are isolating.
|
- To maximize your protection against contracting COVID-19, wear a well-fitting mask (preferably a KN95 mask).
-
The use of masks on campus is optional but wearing a mask indoors is highly recommended as an effective strategy to prevent the transmission of illness. Additional information on the use of masks can be found on the CDC’s website.
- Free masks are available around campus.
