Appropriations

Throughout the month of July, the House of Representatives completed much of their appropriations work, having passed all 12 appropriations bills out of committee, and last week, the full House considered and passed two separate Appropriations “minibuses” that fund certain agencies through September 2021.

COVID Relief Update

Last week, Senate Republicans released their vision for the next COVID relief package, the Health, Economic Assistance, Liability Protection and Schools (HEALS) Act.

State Update

Legislative Appropriation Request

State agencies and universities are still waiting on Legislative Appropriation Request (LAR) instructions from the state.  This is the latest date we can recall not having already received instructions.
The instructions will provide some insight into the parameters we might face during the upcoming session in January.  Stay tuned.
If you want to nerd out on the state budget, State Comptroller Glenn Hegar ’93 had an interview with the Texas Tribune that outlines some of the revenue challenges we face.
