2022-2023 Housing Process | Residency Exemptions
Hi there,
Yesterday we provided many of your peers with an overview of the housing application process for next academic year (ie: 2022-2023). Today, we are kicking off that process as we start with our annual notice of on-campus housing options to all undergraduate students who have a current exemption to our residency requirement.
Your residency exemption remains in place and automatically renews for the remainder of your time as a GW undergraduate student. You are not required to live on-campus for any future academic years. However, you are welcome to rescind your exemption and choose to live on-campus during the 2022-2023 academic year.
Your Options:
  • Continue to Keep Your Exemption: if you would like to keep your exemption, there is nothing further you need to do: no email or communication to us is needed, as 1st and 2nd-year residency exemptions automatically carry over from year to year. You will receive no further communications from Campus Living & Residential Education until spring 2023, with this annual notice at the start of the 2023-2024 housing application process.
  • Rescind Your Exemption: if you would like to rescind your exemption and live on-campus during the 2022-2023 academic year, please email us at living@gwu.edu to inform us of your desire to rescind your exemption. Once you rescind the exemption, you will not be able to receive your exemption again. You would then apply for housing like many of your peers will during our annual housing application period beginning soon.
