FA21 - Weeks 8-9: Boost Mode edition.
Pack your coat, not your COVID.
Unless you’re staying in sunny SoCal for the break, that is, where our Fall weather is more “dry heat” than “warm parka”. Here’s some tips on how to stay safe and protect your loved ones if you plan to hit the road, sky, or light rail this holiday season:
Risk reduction: No, we don’t mean bowing out of family game night. Lessen the likelihood of infection by remembering to wear a mask on public transportation, and to keep it on when you’re not actively eating or drinking.
Like a sandwich: Get tested before you go, and tested when you get back. If you live on campus, be sure to familiarize yourself with the applicable Fall Break return protocol.
Les Carpool: Good for you! Encourage your fellow carbon-footprint reducers to also get tested a couple days before leaving, so you can all continue practicing environmentally conscious endeavors sans-VID.
If you don’t know, now you know: students ride fare-free on the Blue Line trolley from campus via Transportation Services’ Triton U-Pass, which can now get you all the way to the airport for zero dollars – and plenty of sense.
Trolley rocks ‘n free. Use your U-Pass (but don’t move the hyphen) to take the Blue Line down to the Old Town Transit Center, where you’ll transfer to the San Diego Flyer – an electric shuttle that regularly serves San Diego International.
These are QR scrubs.
In the words of Max Fischer: “Oh, are they?” We sincerely hope that more of you rush to MyStudentChart for easy access to your digital vax record – via a handy vaccine status QR code, a printable PDF, or an addition to Apple Wallet (no word on whether this feature will hit the lime green text machines, for now).
Triton gets the square. To get yours: log in to MyStudentChart and select ‘Menu’ → ‘My Record’ → COVID-19. From there, you can generate a QR code/PDF, and even choose to have your testing/vax status show up next to your debit cards and boarding passes..
The Fall Quarter stuffing.
AKA – and this is a hot take alert – the best part.
ICYMI, we recently asked you to share with us your Fall Quarter highlights thus far (thank you to those who responded – we’ll be in touch separately about your free swag). Unsurprisingly, a bunch of y’all told us that finding community on campus IRL has been like Stove Top in a sea of Zoom-bean casserole.
What We’ve Known. We love that you love: meeting new people at in-person events; working out in RIMAC; stumbling upon student org booths on Library Walk; checking out sunsets and lightning storms from RWAC; late-night seshes in Geisel; easy access to testing/vaccines; and of course, the plethora of super-niche Triton accounts on IG.
Quick Hits and Bits
Boost Mode. Level up your COVID-19 protection with a booster shot before the holidays by making an appointment at the Price Center or an off-campus clinic.
