Mental and Physical Well Being

This session will give parents and families some insight into NYU resources and tools that help students establish healthy habits and address the common challenges faced by today’s college students. You will have an opportunity to hear from and ask questions of experts across NYU including Counseling and Wellness, the Office of Global Spiritual Life, the Student Health Center, and the Moses Center for Student Accessibility.

Whether your student is living on or off-campus, this session will focus on important logistical information to help you prepare for move-in day, as well provide information your student will need for the first few weeks of classes. We will discuss move-in strategies, what to bring or what not to bring, transportation within the city, and typical trends to expect once your student is moved in.

New Student Tech Checklist

Student Newsletter

Last week, your student received a newsletter with a range of information from finding different opportunities to connect with other NYU students, confirming meal plans, submitting health forms, and signing up for the NYU Lip Sync battle. There are many upcoming opportunities for them to connect: check in with your student and encourage them to sign up for their interests.

Important Deadline: July 15
Submit Mandatory Health Forms

Don't miss this deadline to submit proof of immunizations, the Student Health History form, and the Wellbeing Questionnaire. If your student is under 18 years of age, you must also submit the Treatment of a Minor form so that you can access services at the Student Health Center. Failing to meet these requirements can result in disenrollment from classes. Visit the information for parents webpage for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions of the Week

When will I hear about my housing assignment and roommate information?

All students do not receive assignment notices at the same time. This year, approximately 90% of incoming first-year residents will receive assignment notices by mid-July. Approximately 10% of incoming first-year residents will be assigned on a rolling basis as space permits, sometime between mid-July and August 19. While waiting longer for an assignment may not seem ideal, we find that we are often better able to meet more application preferences as we wait for fall-term attendance to be finalized.
