The IT Strategic Alignment is well underway, and I am very proud of the team and the work they have accomplished since September 2022. This first six months of this alignment resulted in mulitple project completions in support of the campus Strategic Plan and evolving IT processes to improve your technology experience.
Just a small portion of these updates are below. You can find the full list of our work on the IT@Sam Roadmap.

- Technology Acquisition Process – COMPLETE
As announced on March 1, the new Technology Acquisition Process (TAP) is complete and all SHSU technology acquisitions are now following this new process.
Our teams developed all the training and documentation you need for a guided technology acquisition experience from start to finish including a process map, online tutorials, training opportunities, and more.
- Ticketing System Update – Katalyst (New name for Cherwell)
The Katalyst implementation remains on schedule for completion in late June. Campus training for the Katalyst portal begins at the end of this month. Watch your email for the training schedule and sign up to be one of the first to preview our new system.
- Cisco ISE Implementation
This is a new security policy management platform that authenticates users and devices on the campus network. This addition improves wireless authentication and supports the need for students, faculty, and staff to seamlessly add or move their technology (phones, computers, TVs, gaming consoles, etc.) without the requirement of an IT technician being available to complete the task. This implementation is on track to be completed in late Fall 2023.
- IT Roadmap
The Roadmap is up-to-date. We added an alphabetical list of proposed solutions from each division's campus liaisons for you to review what is on the full campus requested list. This list guides our roadmap as we align with the strategic plan and budgeting processes.
