On Monday, August 26, 2024, the Department of Campus Safety received a report of harassment. It appears to involve the same suspect cited in the Clery Campus Notice that was sent out on
Sunday, August 25.
Today, Monday, August 26 at 10:30 a.m., in Washington Square Park, an NYU student, was approached by the suspect who stated, “Where is my money.” The victim responded, then the subject rolled their wheelchair closer and backhand slapped the student on the nose.
No injuries were reported. Medical attention was offered but refused. Campus Safety's Victim Services Unit is reaching out to the student to offer support.
Below we have a picture of the individual believed to be involved in the incidents. We recommend paying additional attention to your surroundings as you navigate the park and staying alert to avoid engaging this individual. We also suggest keeping your phone and other valuables in a pocket or secured where they cannot be readily grabbed.
