Today, DuJuan McCoy's Circle City Broadcasting closed on their $83 million deal to purchase ABC affiliate WRTV-TV (Channel 6, Indianapolis) from E.W. Scripps Broadcasting. Circle City Broadcasting's portfolio also includes CW affiliate WISH-TV (Channel 8, Indianapolis), and WNDY-TV (MyINDY-TV 23).
The FCC approved the deal earlier this month. In 2019, Circle City Broadcasting purchased WISH and WNDY for $42.5 million from Nexstar Media Group (IRW, 05/30/2019).
At WRTV-TV, these broadcasters announced their departures:
• Weekday evening anchor and reporter (and Indianapolis native) Nicole Griffin. Nicole started at WRTV in April 2017, became weekend news anchor in 2019, and in fall 2021, earned the promotion to anchor weekday evenings.
• Meteorologist Kyle Mounce. Kyle joined the WRTV weather team in May 2013 and has college degrees from both Mississippi State University and Indiana University.
• Community Reporter Nico Pennisi. Nico joined WRTV in October 2022. Before joining WRTV, Nico worked at FOX affiliate WFFT-TV (Channel 55, Fort Wayne) as a reporter, weekend anchor, and producer.
