Please be sure to review important details below regarding the ticketing process to gain access to venues for this year’s celebrations.
Friday, May 16
4–5 p.m.: MFA Hooding Ceremony with remarks from SMFA Dean Scheri Fultineer and Program Director Laurel Nakadate. Balch Arena Theater, Medford.
5–8 p.m.: Exhibition Closing Receptions at Tufts University Art Galleries in Medford. SMFA at Tufts proudly presents Through Shifting Lenses, the 2025 MFA Thesis Program Exhibition. Tufts University Art Galleries, 40 Talbot Ave, Medford.
Saturday, May 17
9 a.m.: School of Engineering Ceremony for graduate programs with remarks from Deans Kyongbum Lee and Karen Panetta, and Allison Perkel, E93, EG02, currently leads Software Development at Blink, an Amazon company. Gantcher Family Sports and Convocation Center; livestream information.
1 p.m.: Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Doctoral Hooding Ceremony with remarks from Dean Ayanna K. Thomas, Provost and Senior Vice President Caroline Genco, Professor Kasso Okoudjou, Dean Sam Thomas, and student speaker Elisa Guzman. Cohen Auditorium, Medford.
3 p.m.: Baccalaureate Ceremony for all graduating seniors and families with an address by Ayomide Oloyede, A25, the 2025 Wendell Phillips Award Winner and an address by the President of the University Sunil Kumar. On The Green between Ballou and Bendetson Halls.
5–8 p.m.: Exhibition Closing Receptions at SMFA SMFA at Tufts proudly presents And Then There Is the Never Ending Problem of Everything Else, the 2025 Senior Thesis Program Exhibition. SMFA at Tufts, 230 The Fenway, Boston.
Sunday, May 18
9 a.m.: The 169th All-University Commencement Ceremony
This event will feature remarks by President Kumar and the conferral of degrees by the Tufts University Board of Trustees. The ceremony will also recognize those individuals from the faculty and administration who have been granted emeritus status and the University will award honorary degrees to distinguished individuals. Freeman A. Hrabowski III, mathematician, education leader, and president emeritus of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County will deliver the Commencement address. On The Green between Ballou and Bendetson Halls, Medford. The ceremony will be livestreamed; a link will be posted on the Commencement homepage on May 18 at 9 a.m.
11:30 a.m.: School of Engineering Phase II Ceremony with remarks from Deans Kyongbum Lee and Andrew Ramsburg, and from Ursula Burns, former CEO of Xerox and a STEM advocacy leader. On The Green between Ballou and Bendetson Halls.
