email : Webview : Summer Insurance Pre-Payment Changes, Invitations to Info Sessions

Dear Faculty,

I am writing with an update regarding how your summer insurance premiums will be collected once the new academic appointment schedule begins in AY 2024-25. The rationale for this change was outlined in the Faculty FAQ attached to my earlier message. We asked the Faculty Welfare Committee to review the possible options for summer insurance and, with their recommendation, we are ready to announce the revised deduction schedule.

Beginning in AY 2024-25, faculty will pre-pay one month of summer insurance premium on each of their March 1, April 1 and May 1 paychecks. This “double deduction” will replace the “quadruple deduction” that used to be taken from the June 1 paycheck. This change will impact all benefits-eligible faculty whose primary job is a nine-month faculty appointment, regardless of whether you are appointed in the summer. More details about this change can be found on the attached FAQ.

Additionally, you are invited to attend one of two virtual information sessions hosted by Central HR and Payroll Services to learn more. These info sessions will address the change to summer insurance premiums and will demonstrate how to use split payment elections as a salary spread alternative. Please see the event details and registration links below. Info sessions will also be recorded and posted to Faculty Central.

As a reminder, there will be no changes to summer premium collection for Summer 2024. These changes will take effect in the next academic year.
