KU Receives New F&A Rates for Federally Funded Grants |
The Office of Research announced on Thursday that KU received new facilities and administrative rates for federally funded grants. The federally negotiated rates are intended to go through June 30, 2028 for the Lawrence and Edwards campuses.
|
| Type | New Rate | Previous Rate | Location |
|---|
| Organized research | 54.5% | 53% | On campus | | Instruction | 51% | 51% | On campus | | Other sponsored activity | 29% | 31% | On campus | | All programs | 26% | 26% | Off campus |
|
The applicable new F&A rate must be used on all new and renewal proposals submitted after the new rates have been published unless limited by written sponsor policies, regardless of whether the sponsor is federal or non-federal.
Currently active awards will not be affected by the new rates unless the project enters a new competitive cycle. Some proposals submitted before the receipt of the new F&A rates may still reflect the previous rates.
More information can be found on the Office of Research website.

Instructions for how to access and use the new portal will be posted on the KU Parking website once the portal is available.
