Yesterday afternoon we announced a few members of the faculty and administration received an anonymous email threatening violence on the South Orange campus. Any threat to our community’s safety is taken extremely seriously.
Since receipt of the anonymous email, Public Safety has been working closely with local, state, and federal law enforcement to investigate this matter. Based on all available information and in consultation with law enforcement, we have no reason to believe this email represents an actual threat to our campus community at this time. All campus activities will continue as scheduled.
We understand the stress this email threat has caused for many members of our community. As a result, we will continue the enhanced security measures and protocols — including an increased law enforcement presence — that were implemented yesterday. Additionally, today (Tuesday) all University community members may work and study remotely. Classes remain on Fall Break and will resume on Wednesday.
The safety and well-being of every campus community member remains our foremost priority. Students can find dedicated resources through Seton Hall’s Counseling and Psychological Services, available at (973) 761-9500. Campus Ministry is likewise available at (973) 761-9545. Employees may use the Employee Assistance Program by calling (877) 622-4327.
We will continue to keep you apprised.
