Textbook Adoption — Submittal Updates and Deadline

The fall 2021 textbook submittal deadline is April 30, 2021.
This timeline will support compliance with state regulations and ensure that the UCF bookstore can provide as many options as possible for students, including new and used books in a variety of formats for purchase and rent.

Hitting the half-way point through the Faculty & Staff Campaign, The College of Sciences will be hosting a Q&A session to answer any questions or concerns.
The meeting will be held this Friday, March 19 from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.

New Primary Source Databases Soon to be Added
Through the UCF Libraries’ affiliation with the Association of Southeastern Research Libraries (ASERL), we now have perpetual access to the following databases from the database vendor Adam Matthew Digital. ASERL negotiated a price of $3.4 million to obtain these resources on behalf of member libraries.
Adam Matthew Digital is an academic publisher based in the United Kingdom. The company publishes collections of digitized primary source materials from different historical eras and has collaborated with various source archives and institutions, including the Amistad Research Center, British National Archives, Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, Hoover Institution, Newberry Library, and the University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill.
These titles soon will be added to the Libraries’ A-Z database list at https://guides.ucf.edu/databases.

NSCM Info Session — Honors Undergraduate Thesis
Faculty are invited to Chair Undergraduate Honors Research! Eligible students have been notified and may be reaching out.
The following deadlines apply for student participation in the Honors Undergraduate Thesis experience:
Summer 21 Deadline: April 16 Fall 2021 Deadline: July 30
In some cases, alternative formats to the traditional HUT are approved where students receive credit toward completion of the Directed Readings portion of the HUT if they have completed one of the following courses:
COM 3800 - Conflict Communication Research Methods COM 3311 - Communication Research Methods MMC 3420 - Mass Media Research Methods FIL 3401 - Research Methods for Filmmaking

Tallahassee Update 2021 Legislative Session

Please find attached a summary of activities in the State Capitol during the first two weeks of the 2021 Legislative Session.
These updates are provided to keep you informed of the major developments in budget and policy issues impacting the state universities as the state legislative session moves toward its scheduled April 30th conclusion. A bill tracking chart, and further information on specific legislation of interest, can be provided promptly on request.
