Get the most recent updates regarding the IT Strategic Alignment
First, I want to thank you for supporting IT as we work to strategically align Information Technology with SHSU. We are two months in, and I continue to be pleased with the progress we are making.
Here are a few updates on what is happening in IT for campus:
IT Business Analyst & Division Liaisons Regular meetings are established for the IT Business Analysts and Division Liaisons to work through the projects and tickets of each Division. As a reminder, these individuals ensure new service requests and projects are aligned with the campus strategic plan and available resources across campus.
Update to Ticketing System (Cherwell): The team completed design sessions for the updated ticketing system on October 24. This was a meticulous exercise to review the system with our consulting firm and outline how the system should function once implemented. This configuration is set to begin this week. In addition, we hired a new ITSM Administrator, to begin on November 16, who will be dedicated to working on the ticketing system resulting in quicker development of workflows and automation to ensure your IT experience is quick and easy.
Develop Service and Product Catalog: The work on our Service Catalog is complete. The next steps in the project are to identify existing products, like software, so that you know everything already available to you through IT. This will provide efficiency for requesting services and products and could help decrease costs in your division.
Redefine and Streamline Technology Acquisitions: The initial mapping of the technology acquisition process is complete. The team is continuing work on creating supporting tools and documentation to ensure a repeatable process. We expect pilot testing to begin within the next month. Additional campus communications and training will follow.
Training Evaluation Summary In the October update, we sent a survey link to collect feedback regarding IT training services. I want to thank those that have responded to date. If you have not had an opportunity, please make time to do so before the survey closes on November 15. Based on feedback from the survey, the training team is making the below changes:
Review ways to provide additional scheduled trainings to meet campus needs.
Elevate the content of current courses to provide guidance on advanced usage and features.
Gather requirements and developing content for additional training needs around: Adobe Creative Cloud, Microsoft Forms, Bookings, Advanced Excel, Power BI, M365, and OneDrive.
Estimated new course offering to begin in late Spring 2023.
NEW: Cisco ISE Implementation Work has begun on this project to support the need for students, faculty, and staff to be able to add or move their technology (phones, computers, TVs, gaming consoles, etc.) without the requirement of an IT technician being available to complete the task. This project is expected to be completed in late spring 2023.
For additional questions regarding the status of these projects, please reach out to us.
