Hey Pilot Family!
This month's newsletter is loaded with important information and dates to know before we welcome you to campus in August. If this is the first newsletter you have received as a Pilot parent/supporter, take a look at last month's newsletter for a quick catch-up.
Support from parents during college has a direct connection to success both inside and outside the classroom, and there is support for YOU as Pilot parents. Hear what current Pilot parent Christine Smith has to say about her family's experience with the supportive environment at UP.
Reach out to parents@up.edu with any questions as we get closer to move-in day and the start of Orientation on August 22.
It is a privilege to partner with you on your exciting new UP journey!

UP's Mailing Services office, located in Tyson Hall, offers some timely tips and information about how to correctly address letters, packages, and even boxes of belongings to your on-campus student prior to move-in day in August. What to Bring, What Not to Bring to Campus
The Office of Residence Life created a comprehensive list of items to bring, and a reminder of what to leave at home. Use this list as a guideline for the best ways to make the most of a tiny living space. Packing in boxes that can be flattened is helpful; larger suitcases can be stored in the residence hall trunk rooms, under beds, or on top of movable wardrobe units. All beds on campus are Twin XL, which means "Extra Long". These beds are 8 inches longer than standard beds, so be sure to bring Twin XL sheets for a proper fit.

The Student Health Center and Insurance
The Student Health Center bills insurance for services and is in network with most major health insurance carriers (Cigna, Blue Cross, United, Pacific Source, etc.). However, they offer special benefits to students enrolled in the Pacific Source plan through UP. For those enrolled students, all services at the Health Center, including medications and labs received on site, are completely free to the student. There will be no deductible, copay, or patient responsibility. Some families may have coverage through an employer; it may still be worth considering enrolling in the student health insurance plan to ensure their student can receive unlimited primary and urgent care at the SHC without any out of pocket cost or having to leave campus.
What is the Health Insurance Waiver?
All UP students are automatically enrolled in the PacificSource Health Plan which shows up on your student's tuition invoice at a charge of $1643 per semester. If your student has their own health insurance, please click the link below to learn how to submit a Health Insurance Waiver form that will be available starting on July 8. This step needs to be taken each semester.
