Description:
The film is shot from a series of athlete POVs who are competing at the Summer Tokyo Olympics. It depicts the intensity and thrilling experience the competing athletes have and goes some way to get the viewer to feel that intensity.

The film was provided to us with no shoot audio recorded. We were tasked with creating a full and intense experience for the viewer. We build crowds in stadiums and specific sport sounds from scratch.

We heighten the intensity of each sport with sound design and mix techniques, introducing a few stylistic moments to help drive the narrative… pushing the POV of the athletes internal experience.

Working closely with the director, decisions where taken on when the crowd should lead the scene, the athlete or when they should share it equally, also when the sounds design lead for the first half with the music taking over in the second half.

Everything you hear was created, recorded, manipulated or layered for this job. We spent time at the skate park shooting audio wilds for the half pipe and BMX scenes as well as the running track to help create the most authentic footsteps.

To help the POV structure of the film, we added a small reverb to the breaths of each athlete, giving them a slightly wider stereo field for the viewer.
