Inter-Religious Council Resumes
On Monday, September 12, the Office of Spiritual and Religious Life began the 31st year of the Emory University Inter-Religious Council (IRC). IRC is a group of undergraduate student leaders from different religious, spiritual, and philosophical communities at Emory that meets weekly over a shared meal.
The group's mission includes building a healthy religiously pluralistic campus, growing together in interfaith leadership, and networking Emory's spiritual communities. Learn more on the IRC page on OSRL's website here.

Celebrating Our 2022 WISE Interfaith Pre-Orientation Peer Mentors
On Thursday, September 22, the Emory University Office of Spiritual and Religious Life celebrated the amazing leadership of the 2022 WISE Pre-Orientation Peer Mentor team with refreshments, thank-you gifts, and time to reconnect with one another.
These 15 student leaders returned to campus early to welcome entering first-year students to Emory's Atlanta campus and led them through a five-day program, which provided all participants with an opportunity to learn about faiths and interfaith, social justice, and explore campus and Atlanta.

Hindu Students Association: Garba

Join HSA as we celebrate the festival of Navaratri with a joyous Garba dance. Garba is an Indian regional dance form in which people perform traditional, joyful steps in a circular formation to celebrate the divine feminine. All are welcome.

Jewish High Holidays
The Jewish High Holidays begin this weekend and includes Rosh Hashanah (9/25-27) and Yom Kippur (10/5). Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year and the anniversary of the creation of the world in the Jewish tradition. Rosh Hashanah is the first of the Ten Days of Awe. Yom Kippur is the conclusion of the Ten Days of Awe and is the holiest and most solemn of all days in the Jewish year. It is observed by fasting, reflection, and atonement.

OSRL Rosh Hashanah Hike

The Office of Spiritual and Religious Life is collaborating with Ma’alot, Moishe House, and 18 Doors to create a nature-based Rosh Hashanah celebration on Sunday evening September 25 at 5:30 p.m. at Arabia Mountain. This event is open to all in the Emory community and will be co-led by Rabbi Jordan Braunig and Rabbi Ariel Root-Wolpe. Registration is required and free. For more info, please click here.

Twin Memorials Concept Feedback
The Emory Twin Memorials project to acknowledge, remember, and reconcile the history of enslavement on Emory's campuses. Last week, the working group and architects presented four themes and conceptual designs in listening sessions across Atlanta and Oxford. Join the Buddhist Club for Buddhist meditation this Thursday at 6:00 p.m. You may also come as early as 5:30 p.m. for a period of community and snacking while we prepare for the meditation session at 6:00 p.m.
This week's meditation will be led by Venerable Geshe Ngawang Phende, the teacher at Drepung Loseling Monastery. Please feel free to enjoy the provided snacks and tea before and/or after the session.
