Milestones

Annual Citrus Gleaning
For the first time ever, the bounty of our Annual Citrus Glean STAYED AT ST. LUKE’S to provide food for our Supporting HEARTS arts/entertainment community food distribution. Our team has donated their time and the fruits of their labor to the Society of St. Andrew (SoSA). In this unprecedented year, SoSA decided that St. Luke's was the organization with the greatest need. Our volunteers gleaned two weekends due to inclement weather. This year's harvest blessed the 250 families who have come every Tuesday since last spring to pick up food for their families. We are grateful to all 33 who volunteered to glean and to all who donated potatoes to our food distribution.
College Acceptance
Marisa Nielson an upcoming 2021 graduating senior and youth worship team member, went 20 for 20!
She was accepted to all 20 colleges she applied to and has committed to attending FAU (Florida Atlantic University). She will graduate this spring from Windermere High School, and start in the fall of 2021 at FAU majoring in Exercise Science & Health Promotion. We are all super proud of her!
CDC Scientists
Science in early childhood classrooms is important. Our 3’s and VPK students have had two units that make science activities an important part of their learning.
The 3’s learned about dinosaurs and that volcanos might have been one reason for their extinction. They made a volcano explode on the playground!
The 3’s were also Paleontologists and learned how dinosaurs came from eggs.
The VPK students were learning about space. They were astronauts and blasted off to learn about the planets and where they are located in reference to the sun.
The VPK students also did an experiment with blasting off rockets made from film canisters.
The Child Development Center has started registration for the next school year. There are limited spaces available in the classes. Look for registration information on the website at www.st.lukes.org/cdc or call the school at 407-876-1155.
Children’s Ministry
The Children’s and Family Ministry Event on Saturday, February 27 brought out kids of all ages to play soccer, meet friends, make cards for Supporting HEARTS and learn how to follow Jesus.
Our Wednesday Night Kids have been learning about our micro-garden and how to be good stewards of God’s earth.
Sunday school is a great place to make new friends and learn about God’s love for us!
We are getting ready for our summer camps and in-person and online VBS. Registration opens on March 15. Click here for more information.
