Join us for UW-Whitewater's 2023 Homecoming Parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28. This year's parade starts at the corner of Prince and Main streets and ends at the corner of Prairie Street and Starin Road. Several athletic events will take place, including the Homecoming football game and a women’s soccer match. Prepaid parking is required.

Kudos to Ashley Dimmig, director of Crossman Gallery, whose curatorial work was featured in the Washington Post on Friday, Oct. 13. As a specialist in Islamic art history, Dimmig served as the guest curator in this area for the new installation "Across Asia: Arts of Asia and the Islamic World" at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland. Kudos to theatre majors Abby Frey and Antonio Parra, who were nominated to compete for Irene Ryan Acting Scholarships. The nomination was submitted by a representative of the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival who attended a recent performance of “Wreckage.” Frey and Parra have been invited to perform at the regional festival in January. Kudos to Jenna Weinfurt, digital marketing major, for achieving a remarkable milestone during the Warhawk women’s volleyball win over Concordia Wisconsin on Tuesday, Oct. 17. In that match, Weinfurt reached a career record of 1,000 kills, an attack that results directly in a point or side out. Read more »

The UW-Whitewater Marching Band hosted 34 schools from across Wisconsin gathered at Perkins Stadium for the 38th Annual WSMA State Marching Band Championships. Award ceremonies concluded Saturday’s event.

Homecoming Kick Off Against the Pioneers |
#5 Warhawk Football takes on UW-Platteville to cap off Homecoming Week on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. This highly anticipated game will mark another chapter in the longstanding football rivalry between the two universities. The previous encounter resulted in a close match, with the Pioneer emerging as the victors 17-13. Fans and players alike are gearing up for an intense battle on the field, eager to witness the outcome of this historic rivalry to end Homecoming Week. Those not able to attend can stream the game live on UWWTV and listen on 105.9 The Hog.

Free STI Testing and Treatments |
University Health and Counseling Services, located in the Ambrose Health Center, offers free, confidential testing for sexually transmitted infections including chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, syphilis and HIV. STI treatments are available to enrolled students and their partners, including partners who are not UW-Whitewater students.

Dealing with Serious Sleep Issues |
Do you have difficulty sleeping? Check out this program, where you will explore sleep disorders and their causes — such as circadian rhythms, insomnia and snoring/sleep apnea — discuss the benefits of sleep studies and examine sleep’s relationship to stress and the release of cortisol. You will also identify ways to address insomnia and leave with many helpful resources.
