Campus Garden earns Board of Regents Diversity Award

The UW-Whitewater Campus Garden, led by the sustainability office under the direction of Wes Enterline, has been named a recipient of the 2024 Universities of Wisconsin Board of Regents Diversity Award. The team will be recognized at this Friday’s Board of Regents meeting in Madison.

Enjoy Warhawk men’s basketball and help fight cancer

Join the men’s basketball team and UW-Whitewater’s American Marketing Association chapter in the fight against cancer this Wednesday, Feb. 7, as the Warhawks take on UW-Stevens Point at Kachel Gymnasium starting at 7 p.m. Proceeds from on-site activation sales will benefit Garding Against Cancer, an organization that raises funds to support cancer patients and research.

Kudos to Xiaohong Zhang, professor of art and design, for her new exhibition, “Traversing Medium and Re-appropriating Motifs in Contemporary Art,” which is on display now through March 22 at UW-Madison’s Gallery 1308. Track and field teams to host Midwest Elite Invitational

Several of the nation’s top track and field programs will travel to Whitewater this Saturday as the Warhawks host the Midwest Elite Invitational at Kachel Fieldhouse in the Williams Center. The UW-Whitewater men are ranked 10th in NCAA Division III and the women are ranked 25th by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA). Events begin at 11 a.m.

Career Services is requesting volunteers — students, staff and faculty — for the Spring Hawk Career Fair on Tuesday, Feb. 13, Wednesday, Feb. 14, and Thursday, Feb. 15, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day. Please help us make this three-day fair a success for our students and employers!

Income tax assistance available

Representatives from UW-Whitewater’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) will be available to assist qualifying community members with their state and federal income tax returns from 3:30-6 p.m. every Wednesday at the Community Engagement Center until April 10.

If you’re not feeling well and are too sick to come to a dining hall, we’ve got you covered. Students can have a friend, roommate or acquaintance pick up a meal and bring it back to the residence hall. To receive a sick meal kit, the form must be submitted between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Free to-go spaghetti meals.

Free Spaghetti Meals

All are welcome! Free spaghetti meals are offered 5-6 p.m., every Monday at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Whitewater. You may pick up the meal at the 133 S. Franklin Street entrance. If you need more than one meal to get you through the week, you are welcome to more meals.

The Community Space

 

The Community Space, located at 834 E. Milwaukee Street in Whitewater, Wisconsin, provides food, clothing, furniture and more to people in a dignified, respectful and joyful manner. All are welcome. A Little Free Pantry is available 24/7. 262-379-0187.
