Hacks & Chops

President Emerita Susan Resneck Pierce authored an Inside Higher Ed opinion piece about the changing landscape of higher education leadership and steps universities can take during the hiring process to avoid failed presidencies. Since concluding her service as president of University of Puget Sound in 2003, Pierce has written extensively about higher ed and has advised colleges and universities across the country on effective board and presidential performance, governance, board development, and strategic planning.

Local Flair

For years, Sam Zisette ’16 dreamed of starting a soccer team in Ballard, the Seattle neighborhood he calls home. The COVID-19 pandemic finally gave him the push he needed to make Ballard FC a reality. Zisette recruited local players like Cale Spence ’22 to the club and they went on to win the USL 2 championship in 2023. Now, Zisette is coming back to Puget Sound as interim men's soccer coach.
