Spring commencement ceremonies

Spring commencement ceremonies will be held this Friday, May 12, at Globe Life Field. If you're planning to attend, find answers to frequently asked questions. For those who can't attend in person, each ceremony will be broadcast live online at uta.edu/commencement.

MavGrad Celebration

MavGrad Celebration is a fun and family-friendly event Thursday, May 11, 6-9 p.m., where UTA’s graduating students can celebrate with their peers, friends, and family. This free event will feature food, drinks, a drone show, music by The Inspiration Band, photo opportunities, and festive activities.

Special ceremonies

The UTA community celebrates commencement all week long with special ceremonies honoring diverse student groups. The Evening of Black Excellence is Wednesday, May 10, and Lotus Laureate is Thursday, May 11. Learn more at uta.edu/commencement.

MAC renovation

New flooring, new equipment, and other upgrades will be installed in the Maverick Activities Center fitness center and weight area May 13-July 9. During that time, the fitness area will be closed. Read more about the renovation.

Steam outage

The Thermal Energy Plant has planned its annual outage of campus steam service for inspection and repair. The outage is scheduled to begin Sunday, May 14, at 11 p.m. Normal operations should resume Saturday, May 20, at 10 a.m. During that time, buildings served by the Thermal Energy Plant will be without hot water and steam (this includes heated water for the swimming pool). Electrical power, air conditioning, chilled water, and domestic cold water services will still be available. Direct questions to Bobby Kirby at bkirby@uta.edu or 817-272-2564.

Mitchell Street construction

Monday, May 15, crews will begin construction on Mitchell Street. Between Cooper St. and Davis St., one lane will be closed for gutter and curb repairs. This is the beginning of a multi-phase street resurfacing project between Mary St. and Davis St.

MavWire moves to Thursday distribution

May 15 through August 11, MavWire, UTA's internal newsletter to employees, will be distributed weekly on Thursdays. To submit an item, email mavwire@exchange.uta.edu.

Alumni happy hour

UTA Alumni Relations invites alumni to connect with fellow Mavericks at T&P Tavern in Fort Worth on Thursday, May 18, 5 p.m.-7 p.m. RSVP to attend.

Concur availability

Blazing Race

Join the Office of Talent, Culture, and Inclusion and your fellow Mavericks on Monday, May 22, for the 2023 Blazing Race at Brazos Park. Fill out the Blazing Race registration form to enter your team of two to six people. The first 125 people to register will receive a Blazing Race T-shirt. Register by Thursday, May 18, to secure a spot and meal pass.

Omega updates

The Omega server will undergo security updates and be unavailable May 12-14. Users will not notice any changes to functionality. If you have issues with Omega after the upgrade, contact the IT Help Desk by chat, submit a self-service ticket, or call 817-272-2208.
