Warhawk Angie Carchesi earns national award for audio feature |
Angie Carchesi has shown impressive versatility and talent in digital media during her time at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. She has won awards from the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association and the Wisconsin Community Media for her TV and radio work. And now she has added a national award to an already impressive list of accolades.
Carchesi has earned second place in the Best Feature News Reporting category from the College Broadcasters, Inc., for her audio story “On Campus Music Composer.” The contest included submissions from all over the country from institutions of all sizes, including Mississippi State University, the University of California, Berkeley, North Carolina State University and the University of Texas.

Warhawk Marching Band to perform at Packers game Nov. 19

The Warhawk Marching Band will perform at the Green Bay Packers’ home game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, Nov. 19, at Lambeau Field, one of the most famous sports venues in the world. "We are thrilled to be able to return to Lambeau Field,” said Glenn Hayes, director of bands. “The students have been working with a strong focus and determination to give an incredible performance. I could not be more proud of each and every one of them!"

Kudos to the UWW Voice Students, who represented themselves and UW-Whitewater extremely well at this year’s Wisconsin National Association of Teachers of Singing Auditions. Kudos to Jo Ann Oravec, professor of information technology and supply chain management, who will present a paper online on Nov. 23 at the Sixth Annual Dreams, Phantasms, and Memories Conference sponsored by the University of Poland. The paper is titled “Interfacing with the Sleeping Mind: Artificial Intelligence and Dream-state Intervention.”
Kudos to Courtney Powers, assistant professor of communication, who had three papers related to crisis management, communal coping, training and development, and remote work accepted for presentation at the 2023 National Communication Association Conference in National Harbor, Maryland, Nov. 16-19.
Kudos to the UW-Whitewater volleyball team on an exceptional season, as evidenced by their clean sweep in the major player awards presented by the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). Jenna Weinfurt secured the prestigious WIAC Kwik Trip Offensive Player of the Year award. Morgan Jensen earned the Kwik Trip Defensive Player of the Year accolade. The team's talent pool was further complemented by Aubrie Krzus, who was named the Kwik Trip Newcomer of the Year. Also, Hannah Proctor, was recognized for her exceptional sportsmanship and represented UW-Whitewater on the WIAC's All-Sportsmanship Team. Kudos to Women's Basketball senior forward Aleah Grundahl, an elementary education major, who became the all-time leading scorer for the Warhawk team. In a dominant performance during UW-Whitewater's 84-56 victory over St. Norbert College, Grundahl showcased her talent and leadership, leading all players with 20 points, which brought her career total to an impressive 1,380 points and surpassed the previous record held by Mary Merg from 2010-2014. Kudos to Warhawk Volleyball for winning the 2023 Volleyball WIAC Tournament with a 3-0 sweep over UW-Oshkosh. The win was UW-Whitewater’s 18th WIAC tournament championship, 14 more titles than any other school in the conference. The win also secured an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Tournament and qualification for the NCAA Regionals for the 34th time in the program's history. The victory also ended the Titans’ 34-match win streak, handing them their first loss of the year, and ended UWO's streak of 22 consecutive set victories. Go Warhawks! Read more »
Kudos to Kirsten Anderson, a psychology major, who registered seven blocks Warhawk Volleyball’s three-set victory in the WIAC Tournament final. Kudos to the Warhawk men’s cross country team, which clinched its third consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Championships by placing second at the NCAA North Regional on Saturday. In the previous match between these two teams, the Warhawks claimed victory with a final score of 67-53. The teams have had a competitive history, with the Warhawks having a four-game winning streak.
