The Southern Surgical Association established the Shipley Award in 1957 to honor the best scientific paper presentation by a new member. Juan C. Duchesne, MD, Professor of Surgery and Chief of Trauma, Acute Care & Critical Care Surgery, was awarded the 2021 Shipley Award. He's the fourth Tulane faculty member to win.
