First-Gen College Celebration Nov. 4-8 |
Join us Nov. 4-8 as we celebrate National First-Generation College Celebration week with a reception, pop-up exhibit, tabling on both campuses, and more. A kick-off ceremony outside Roberta’s Art Gallery at noon on Monday, Nov. 4, will feature Chancellor Corey A. King and other first-gen students, faculty, staff, and alumni. A pop-up exhibit in the University Center showcases the portraits and stories of nine proud first-gen Warhawks. Help us celebrate the 36% of current students who are first-gen!

URP alum returning to campus for presentation this Wednesday

Tyler Brasington, who earned a B.S. in environmental science in 2017, will return to campus Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. in Summers Auditorium for a free presentation, “The Science of Grizzly Bears: My journey from undergraduate research to grizzly bear conservation in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE).”

Kudos to Matt Kiederlen, chief of UW-Whitewater Police, who was formally installed as chair of the University and College Police Section of the International Association of Chiefs of Police on Oct. 20. The IACP is the most prominent representative association of police leaders globally, with more than 31,000 members in 165 countries. The University and College Police Section represents more than 600 sworn-in university and college police agencies in the United States and hundreds more internationally.

Fifth-year seniors Christian Patzka, a history education major from Mazomanie, and Gunner Schlender, a physical education major from Brillion, lead the UW-Whitewater men’s cross country team into this Saturday’s conference championship meet.
