- September 18 - Storytelling for Advocates
This interactive workshop series is designed to prepare young adult peers and advocates to share their personal stories and recovery experiences with a wide array of audiences in order to combat stigma in their communities, impact change in their service systems, and to provide hope to those who are struggling. Sharing stories of lived experience in order to inspire and provide hope to others is at the heart of peer support as well as a driving force in personal recovery. It is also a way to effectively educate our communities and policymakers about the concept of recovery and illustrate what helps to support recovery and what creates barriers.
- September 19 - Treating Substance Use Disorders in Older Adults
Throughout the United States, an estimated 1-2 million older adults are in need of substance use disorders (SUD) treatment. This presentation addresses evidence-based best practices for treating older adults with substance use disorder. -
September 20 - Join SAMHSA for Special Release of Research Findings on Recovery
This is a live event, please click on this link to attend virtually! In celebration of National Recovery Month, SAMHSA’s Office of Recovery will release findings from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) that provide a more in-depth examination of the prevalence of recovery based on self-reports among Americans and what helps people to recover from their mental health and substance use conditions. Results will also be shared on how Americans in recovery reported they fared during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the nation faces a continued mental health crisis and an overdose epidemic, these findings are important to help individuals, families, and communities heal and find hope.
- September 21 - Centering Whole Person Wellness - SAMHSA Recovery Month
This webinar will focus on challenges faced by persons from the LGBTQ+ community in recovery and discuss efforts to discuss the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community to access recovery supports in their community and showcase local and national efforts to provide recovery supports and services. -
September 27 - Unlocking the Potential of Recovery Community Organizations and Peer Recovery Support Services
This webinar is a call to action for recovery leadership to collaborate with pioneers of emerging systems and ally with other social movements to transform communities and society and as we transform individual lives. The webinar will provide a panel of Pioneer Recovery Leaders, who have laid the recovery landscape from around the country, an opportunity to weigh in on the study.
