The Homework Apocalypse - Rise of the AI Scholars

A Brave New World of Learning (or Cheating?)
Picture this: It's 2024, and the classrooms of the world have become battlegrounds. On one side, we have the teachers, armed with red pens and decades of experience. On the other, students wielding smartphones loaded with AI more powerful than anything we could have imagined just a few years ago. Welcome to the aftermath of the Homework Apocalypse.
Last summer, I played the role of a doomsday prophet, warning of a future where AI could complete most traditional homework assignments. Fast forward to today, and my prophecy has come true with a vengeance. Not only can AI ace your average homework, it's now strutting into exams and acing those too. You'd think this would cause an educational earthquake, right? Well, hold onto your No. 2 pencils, folks, because the truth is even stranger.

The Silent Revolution
Imagine a world where nearly every student has a pocket-sized Einstein, ready to solve any problem at a moment's notice. Sound far-fetched? Think again. A recent survey revealed that a whopping 82% of college students and 72% of K-12 students in the US have already embraced AI as their study buddy. That's not evolution; that's a revolution happening right under our noses!
But here's where it gets really interesting. These AI-equipped students aren't just using their digital geniuses for the occasional tough question. Read more, here.

Adjust the display settings on the PC/Projector/Confidence Monitors in our Technology Classrooms.
Why P? That's P for "project" as in projector, not "project" as in project manager.
Hold down these 2 keys (Win + P) at the same time and a window will pop up in the right corner your screen choices. Continue to hold down the Windows key and toggle the P key to change the selection. Toggle P until you land on the option you'd like.
Here's what the options do:
-
PC screen only: This mode only shows video on the primary display, even if a second one is connected.
- Duplicate: This mode duplicates the video output from the primary display onto all displays.
-
Extend: This mode extends the desktop across as many displays as you have connected. The PC screen and the projector screen will usually be twins and the confidence monitor will act as the second screen. You can move windows by grabbing the title bar and dragging the windows left or right.
- Second screen only: This mode only shows video on the second display, while the primary display remains blank and unused.

Tell your students to take advantage of the Fall semester to work on the project, and make sure to submit it by the November 8th deadline!
|
|
|
|
Encourage your students to participate in The Creative Jam, a fantastic opportunity to showcase their creativity and make an impact with the theme
"Wave of Change: Building Better Together"
|
|
|
|
The challenge is to create a visual or multimedia project that embodies this theme. Projects should explore the ways collaboration and creativity can be used to implement positive change in one's own community.
Students have complete freedom to express their ideas using the medium that best fits the vision—the only requirement is that your project be created using any Adobe product available to you.
Creative Jams are digital design and storytelling competitions open to Tulane students across all disciplines.
