Welcome Phil Osborne!
We are delighted to share exciting news with our congregation. Thanks to a generous gift from the Capps family, WPC has established and filled a new staff position—Engagement Director—to further support our growing programs, ministries, and community life.
We are pleased to announce that Phil Osborne will join our staff beginning April 7. Phil and his wife, Jennifer, are already active members of WPC, and we are grateful to welcome him into this important role.
As Engagement Director, Phil will strengthen connections within our church family by supporting members, visitors, and friends as they engage in WPC’s mission and ministry opportunities, such as small groups, committees, and congregational life. He will focus on helping individuals find meaningful ways to connect, serve, and grow in faith together.
If you see Phil and Jennifer around the church, please take a moment to welcome him and offer your encouragement as he begins this important ministry among us.
A little about Phil...
Before joining the staff at Westminster, Osborne helped manage a federal magnet school grant for Metro Public Schools. Prior to that, he owned and operated one of the largest public relations firms in
Kentucky, working extensively in energy, health care, travel and tourism, and public affairs arenas. The firm’s work was recognized by the Public Relations Society of America with four awards of excellence. More recently, he won a Parthenon Award from the Nashville Chapter of PRSA for his work with the magnet program.
His volunteer responsibilities included leadership roles for two United Way organizations, a $250-million health care system, Wilderness Trace Community Foundation, Greater Lexington Chamber of Commerce, and several public education support groups. In addition, he is an ordained elder (The Presbyterian Church, Danville, KY) and former chairman of the Board of Trustees (Second Presbyterian Church, Lexington, KY).
Osborne attended the University of Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky University, where he earned a communications degree. He and his wife, Jennifer, have been members of Westminster for almost three years. Together, they have four children and 11 grandchildren, including a daughter, Anne-Ward (Andrew) Eshelman and her three children (Henry, Murphy and Florie) who are also members of Westminster.
When not working, he and Jennifer enjoy travel, antiquing, gardening, and pickleball.
And one final note of trivia, a poster he designed for the 2000 Vice Presidential Debate at Centre College is now part of the Smithsonian’s permanent collection of political memorabilia.
