Dear Staff,
It has been two weeks since the system outage began. Again, this outage occurred due to our IT team identifying suspicious activity on certain computer systems, at which point they took the affected systems offline and launched an analysis of the event with a third-party consultant.
Thank you for your patience, your grace, and your willingness to adopt new — and sometimes clunky — processes over these last two weeks.
Over this time, our MarCom team has worked to keep us all on the same page by updating staff via Noteworthy. Teams representing every corner of our mission have worked together to restore some systems and create new workarounds:
|
-
WebConnex has been restored, including access for trip management and secondary assignments
- Learning online (Moodle) is available again
- Staff.younglife.org access is restored
- We were able to use Workday payroll, allowing us to pay U.S. payrolled staff
- We have workaround processes for timesheets (through this week), health and consent forms, and screening (among other processes)
- We also have made progress on re-engaging systems such as Cashflow
|
Full operational capacity will take some time, but we wanted to share current progress. Please continue checking our affected systems page for updates.
Another step forward will come to your inbox on Monday in the form of a Workday invite and access to the system. The long-planned timing of this move will be beneficial in the midst of our unrelated system outage. While the Workday platform was not impacted by our outage, it has been an absolutely critical part of the solution, and we praise God for his plan and provision.
Learning Workday and moving basic tasks to a new system will take time and effort — on top of the frustration and confusion you may have experienced over the past two weeks. Time and effort is a cost, but one we believe will be well worth it.
Thank you in advance for jumping into Workday and spending time in it. On Monday, you’ll see a few things:
|
- You’ll get an email invite to Workday, which points you to Staff Resources.
- You’ll go to a page on Staff Resources, resetting your password on the way.
- You’ll see instructions about access to Workday. Watch for direction on when you should log in (staff will enter in phases based on where they work in the mission) and for training resources.
|
Your time learning Workday is truly helping us recover from this system outage and moving Young Life forward — ensuring we have global processes, better support, and more efficient systems. Ultimately, we believe this will help us live into our value of stewardship as we grow into a more global mission.
Sincerely,
|
