Associate Professor of Philosophy Sara Protasi was recently quoted in an article from The Atlantic titled "The Unexpected Benefits of an Unrequited Crush." In the article, she revealed the unacknowledged upsides to unrequited crushes and shed light on how the negative emotions typically associated with a one-sided love can transform into a "soul boost" or a rise in self-esteem. "Desire is about lack," Protasi says. "Brief moments when the other person feels just out of reach or mysterious or distant in some way keeps partners longing for each other and makes it more meaningful when loving attention or presence is returned."

The Ultimate Endurance Test

This summer, Kiira Antenucci ’21 broke the record for the fastest known time for a self-supported female pair on the Infinity Loop—a 143-mile excursion around Mount Rainier that includes two summits, the entire length of the Wonderland Trail, and a whopping 44,000 feet of elevation gain. Antenucci and her partner finished the loop in three days, 22 hours, 19 minutes, 38 seconds, beating the previous record by six hours.

Last week, the Logger Crew teams took to the water to compete in the American Lake Classic in Lakewood, Washington. The men's boat finished in first place, with the women's varsity and women's junior varsity teams each taking third. In addition to the team events, Quincy Buickerood ’24 came in second place in the single scull race.
