First Year Required Advising

All students in their first year at Grand Valley State University must meet with an academic advisor before registering for classes for the upcoming academic year. This includes freshman and transfer students in their first year at GVSU.

Registration for Spring 2025, Fall 2025, and Winter 2026 will begin in late March.

NEW: CHM 234 Organic & Biochemistry 

Beginning Fall 2025, CHM 230 Introduction to Organic & Biochemistry will be renumbered as CHM 234. 

Students who completed CHM 230 can still use this for the nursing application process. All students who still need to complete this requirement will enroll in CHM 234 starting Fall 2025.

 

Interview Preparation

Did you apply to the Traditional or Second-Degree Nursing program this January? Begin preparing for your interview with the help of the Career Center.

  • Practice Interviews: Develop powerful interviewing strategies through a practice one-on-one interviewing session with a career advisor. Schedule an appointment through Handshake.
  • Big Interview is GVSU's online tool that allows you to record yourself in practice interviews.
