Revive | احیا asked seven Middle Eastern women writers to select a ceramic object in the Vanderbilt University Fine Arts Gallery collection and write a description. These essays were given to seven Middle Eastern women artists who created new works of art, based solely on the essay, never seeing the object itself. These women artists and writers express their complex identities through this work, creating something new that is intimately connected to the past. This exhibition explores the concept of RE-PAIR, in an intellectual and creative investigation of how objects, memories, cultures, and identities can be fractured and reconstituted. Revive | احیا was curated by Raheleh Filsoofi, Assistant Professor of Art – Ceramics.
